About Us

Spring Fed Records is the music production program of the Arts Center of Cannon County, a non-profit arts organization in the small town of Woodbury in Middle Tennessee. Begun in 2002, Spring Fed Records has grown quickly, producing critically acclaimed CD releases every year. Spring Fed produces only the finest old-time, bluegrass and traditional gospel recordings as well as reissuing significant historical musical recordings.

Our first three releases Uncle Dave at Home, Billy Womack in Retrospect, and Sam and Kirk Live: 1955-1967 are the highest quality factory produced CDs. Spring Fed Records recently began production of custom print on demand CDs. These high quality one-off CDs allow Spring Fed to produce multiple CD releases simultaneously. In 2006 Spring Fed Records joined forces with Dr. Steven Davis of Davis Unlimited Records to remaster and reproduce some of the core recordings of the 1970s Davis Unlimited Catalog. Spring Fed Records currently produces fifteen of the Davis Unlimited Catalog. Eventually we hope to release the entire Davis Unlimited Catalog.

Davis Unlimited released forty five titles in its eight year run. Though Spring Fed Records has officially issued fifteen titles from the Davis Unlimited catalog, contact us if there are other titles in which you are interested in hearing. We’d love to know what our audience wants to hear next.

All Spring Fed Records releases incorporate the highest quality digital mastering, interpretive line notes, engaging graphic design and, of course, the finest old-time music around.

Please stay tuned for future releases. Our next project collects the never before heard field recordings of Dr. John Wesley Work, a Fisk University ethnomusicologist who recorded African American sacred and secular music in the 1930s and 1940s. These recordings include blues, spirituals, shape-note singing and string band music and have never been heard before. Lost Delta Found co-editor Bruce Nemerov will write the extensive and interpretive liner notes. Due for release in the summer of 2007, John Wesley Work’s lost recordings will prove a valuable and exciting addition the Spring Fed Records Catalog.

Enjoy your tour of Spring Fed Records. We hope you enjoy our wares.
