JOB: Manager of Spring Fed Records at MTSU (part time; 15 hrs per week)
The Center for Popular Music at Middle Tennessee State University seeks a part-time employee to serve as Manager of the Center’s in-house record label, Spring Fed Records. A Grammy-winning label devoted to preserving and disseminating grassroots folk music of the U.S. South, Spring Fed maintains a commercial catalog of newly made and archival recordings that are available on CD and via all major streaming platforms.
The ideal candidate will have some familiarity with the business of a functioning record label, as well as various genres of Southern folk music. Duties will include bookkeeping and accounting, filling orders, coordination of new releases, distribution logistics, social media promotion and publicity, and other day-to-day operations of the label. The Spring Fed Manager will also have the opportunity to spearhead new projects, and to assist with the mentoring of student interns.
15 hours (two full days) per week on site at the Center for Popular Music, on the MTSU campus in Murfreesboro, with some flexibility as to the days of the week. Competitive hourly wage to be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. There is also the possibility of additional hourly work in the Center’s archive, to be determined at a later date.
